PET/CT in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Malignancies (Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging) de Nilendu Purandare,Sneha Shah

Descripción - Críticas “This volume provides a succinct summary of hepato-pancreaticobiliary (HPB) tumour management, with a particular focus on PETCT imaging techniques. … This handbook is likely to be of most interest to clinicians involved in the management of HPB tumours including oncologists, surgeons, as well as imaging specialists.” (Andy Scarsbrook, RAD Magazine , June, 2018)“This short book discusses clinical and pathological findings of hepatobiliary neoplasms, as well as their imaging and management. … This book is most suitable for clinicians dealing with the management of patients with hepatobiliary malignancy.” (Tara M. Catanzano, Doody's Book Reviews, January, 2018) Reseña del editor This book is a pocket guide to the role of PET/CT in malignancies of the hepatobiliary system and pancreas. Imaging findings characteristic of malignancies are described and illustrated, and attention drawn to normal variants and artifacts. In addition, information is presented on epidemiology, clinical presentation, pathology, staging, and management in order to provide the clinical insight required by the imaging specialist. The book will be of immense value to practicing nuclear physicians as well as hybrid imaging specialists, particularly during reading sessions and multidisciplinary team meetings. It will also serve as a quick reference for residents and fellows in the PET/CT department. The book is published within the series Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging, which is compiled under the auspices of the British Nuclear Medicine Society. The series is the joint work of professionals worldwide who share a common vision in promoting nuclear medicine as an important imaging specialty for the diagnosis and management of oncological and non-oncological conditions. Biografía del autor Nilendu Purandare is an Associate Professor and Consultant Radiologist in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at the Tata Memorial Cancer Centre, which is a tertiary referral cancer centre in Mumbai affiliated to the Homi Bhabha National University. Dr. Purandare received his degree in Medicine from Mumbai University and subsequently completed residency training in Radiology at Tata Memorial Hospital. He has been working in PET/CT since 2004 and is interested in hybrid imaging techniques combining diagnostic CT protocols with FDG PET. He has published on PET/CT in peer-reviewed national and international journals.   Sneha Shah is an Associate Professor in Nuclear Medicine in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India, which is a tertiary oncology institute. She completed her nuclear medicine residency at the Radiation Medicine Centre, Mumbai and PD Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai and subsequently received training in the use of PET/CT in oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital. She has expertise in the performance of PET/CT using FDG and several other non-FDG PET tracers and has a keen interest in radionuclide therapy.

18ffdg petct imaging of the pancreas spectrum of diseases petct findings of pancreatic disorders is crucial for not only radiologists but for other clinicians as well the purpose of this pictorial essay is 1 to present an uptodate role of petct in the evaluation and management of primary pancreatic malignancies 2 to familiarize the readers with the utility of petct in Petct in hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies petct in hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies clinicians guides to radionuclide hybrid imaging 9783319605067 medicine amp health science books Update of pet and petct for hepatobiliary and pancreatic methods of diagnosis the diagnostic issues include early detection of these tumors, differentiation of malignant tumors from benign tumors lesion characterization, staging for resection that include lesion localization, evaluation of proximity to vessels, invasion of adjacent structures, metastasis to regional lymph nodes and distant sites, and assessment of therapeutic response

Petct in pancreatic malignancies springerlink petct combines functional information of pet with detailed anatomic information of multidetector ct 2 although the role of petct in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with various abdominal malignancies is established, its role in pancreatic imaging is still evolving Petct in hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies the book is published within the series clinicians guides to radionuclide hybrid imaging, which is compiled under the auspices of the british nuclear medicine society the series is the joint work of professionals worldwide who share a common vision in promoting nuclear medicine as an important imaging specialty for the diagnosis and management of oncological and nononcological conditions Utility of petct in diagnosis, staging, assessment of detailed information of petct in differential diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma and massforming pancreatitis is showed in table table2 2 however, value of fdgpetct in differential diagnosis of pancreatic cancer from chronic pancreatitis is still controversial, as a consensus has not been reached on whether or when petct should be applied

Petct for pancreatic malignancy potential and pitfalls abstract pancreatic malignancy carries a poor prognosis and is the fourth leading cause of cancerrelated deaths in the united states although conventional imaging with ct and mr remains the main imaging modality, recent times have seen an increase in the applications of petct in the evaluation of pancreatic malignancy Fdgpet ct in the evaluation of primary and secondary pancreatic adenocarcinoma is extremely rare under the age of 40 and is usually associated with underlying genetic abnormalities secondary malignancies of the pancreas occur more frequently than primary pancreatic malignancies in children and are most commonly seen with nonhodgkin lymphomas nhl and mesenchymal sarcomas Pet imaging in pancreatic cancer sift desk early accurate detection of pancreatic cancer is still a challenge for current medicine compared to conventional anatomical imaging techniques, pet can provide information on tumor function, and petct is increasingly used in detecting and staging of cancer as single one stop shop method
